El Instituto de Ciencias del Seguro de FUNDACIÓN MAPFRE ha publicado el estudio "El mercado español de Seguros en 2010", un informe que analiza la situación del sector y sus principales magnitudes, así como las distintas variables que inciden en su evolución. El estudio refleja que, a pesar del complicado entorno económico, el sector sigue mostrando un elevado superávit del nivel de solvencia (2,6 veces el mínimo exigido por el supervisor) y unos resultados muy favorables.

In a new report, Systemic Risk and Resolution and Recovery Plans: The need for a broader debate, KPMG highlights that while the Financial Stability Board (FSB) has focused primarily to date on the banking sector, the insurance industry is very much on their radar with the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) due to make recommendations on these issues to the FSB shortly.

Phase II began with issuance of the latest IASB Exposure Draft and FASB Discussion Paper which were the products of joint deliberations by the Boards. All insurers are likely to be affected, whether they are transitioning to IFRS for the first time, adopting a new IFRS insurance standard, or potentially adopting revisions to US GAAP.

The survey shows that shared service and competence centers are an important lever for European insurance companies to improve their operating models. Particularly larger, globally acting insurers already consolidated various core and support functions. Today, especially IT-related functions are centralized and organized in shared service centers. Within the next three years, their percentage will increase from 61% to 89% of respondents for IT infrastructure and from 55% to 72% of respondents for IT application development and support. According to the insurers' answers, organizing IT-related support functions in SSCs is expected to result in annual savings of more than 15% at a relatively low complexity level.
