Gaining traction: Will consumers ride the electric vehicle wave?

 A new survey released by Deloitte shows that 78 percent of consumers in the United States would consider purchasing an electric vehicle (EV) when fuel prices reach $5.00 per gallon. The study, Gaining traction: Will consumers ride the electric vehicle wave?, surveyed 12,000 consumers globally, including more than1,000 in the U.S., and finds that the higher the price of fuel, the more interested consumers are in EVs.

En una década se han perdido en accidentes de tráfico más de 15,5 millones de años de vida en la Unión Europea de los Quince (UE-15), lo que equivale a más de 190.000 vidas de ciudadanos europeos, de los que más de las tres cuartas partes corresponden a hombres. Esta cifra equivaldría también a que, con su población actual, cada habitante de Irlanda y Grecia perdiera un año de vida.

 Este trabajo analiza el efecto de los factores locales de oferta en la fijación de los precios de los carburantes de automoción a nivel de estaciones de servicio en España. Para ello contamos con información sobre los precios que fijan, y sobre las características de los mercados locales en donde operan, 529 estaciones de servicio que representa fielmente la estructura competitiva del mercado español a nivel nacional y regional a lo largo de 2007. Nuestros resultados sugieren la existencia de imperfecciones en la competencia y muestran cómo la existencia de estaciones de servicio independientes en los mercados locales la intensifican.
