 It's been said that if something can't be measured, it doesn't count. After two decades of rapid growth and extraordinary innovation, the internet no longer falls into that category. In a recent interview, McKinsey Partner Eric Hazan and McKinsey Global Institute senior fellow Michael Chui discuss new research from the McKinsey Global Institute that shines a little light on how much the internet contributes to global GDP, as well as who benefits, why it matters, and what can be done to nurture it.

The event was packed with euphoric entrepreneurs toasting their grand plans.
